Welding and Metal Fabrication

Welding can be an exciting and lucrative career. Begin your journey here at Questar III. Each module in this series is a four-week course taught by an experienced Questar III instructor. Students who complete all three modules will enter the field with a solid foundation in welding. Students are required to bring your own safety gear (jeans or work pants, leather boots that cover the ankle and clear safety glasses). Please note that helmets and jackets are available but are limited and it is recommended to have your own. For all Welding courses, students must be 18 years of age or older.

 

Welding I – 30 hours: This course will provide students with entry-level skills in Welding. This course includes basic welding theory, safety in welding, introduction to oxyacetylene cutting and welding and basic welding symbols for blueprint reading. Students will learn electric arc and other welding techniques, as well as SMAW (Stick) welding with a variety of electrodes in the flat, horizontal and vertical positions.

Welding II – 30 hours: This class is for welders already in the industry or looking to upgrade their skills. The course continues with stick and includes some exploration into MIG and TIG. Prerequisite: Welding I or welding experience.

Welding III – 30 hours: This course continues with MIG and TIG welding and includes hands-on training on carbon steel plate in the horizontal and vertical positions. Prerequisite: Welding I & Welding II or welding experience.
