Questar III BOCES Board Member Paul Puccio received the first-ever Excellence in School Board Service Award at CASDA’s Regional Education Awards Dinner at the Albany Marriott on April 12. CASDA’s Regional Awards Dinner recognizes outstanding individuals who have demonstrated excellence in serving their school communities.

Questar III District Superintendent Dr. Gladys I. Cruz said Puccio’s leadership and work on behalf of children is truly outstanding.

“Paul is a role model for other board members and a consummate advocate for the value of public education. This award recognizes his dedication and exemplary leadership across our region for nearly four decades,” said Cruz.

Puccio has served on the Schodack CSD Board of Education since 1980 and the Questar III Board of Education since 1999.

He is also the first-ever president of the Tech Valley High School, a joint venture of Questar III and Capital Region BOCES. This nationally-recognized school, located on the SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Albany Nanotech Complex, emphasizes teaching 21st century skills in a project-based learning environment.

In addition to his years of school board service, Puccio is also active in the Castleton and Schodack communities.

This was not the first time a school association honored Puccio for exceptional board service. In 2010, he received the New York State School Boards Association’s top award for distinguished service, the Everett R. Dyer Award.
