Questar III is seeking social studies educators to work with their building librarian as part of a grant-funded initiative this summer and fall.

Activities for the Enhancing Student Engagement through Primary Sources grant are sponsored by the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Region Program, coordinated by Waynesburgh University.

Questar III Specialist Tasha Anderson, who is coordinating the program, said the BOCES is seeking participants to commit to four full-day training sessions at Questar III.

“This professional development opportunity supports the transition to New York State Social Studies Framework. Educators will explore inquiry-based experiences and develop the skills to design lessons and units of study using primary sources, or the raw materials of history. I encourage local social studies teachers and librarians to apply for this paid experience,” said Anderson.

Participants will receive a $400 stipend for completing all of the requirements, including providing turnkey trainings to at least two educators within their building. Applications are due June 15, 2017.
