Michele Levings with awardMichele Levings, director of Questar III’s State Aid & Financial Planning Service, recently received the prestigious Philip B. Fredenburg Memorial Award for Outstanding Service from the New York State Association of School Business Officials (NYSASBO).

The award recognizes Levings’ outstanding service to school districts across the state and her impact on NYSASBO, its members and the profession.

Levings, who has worked at Questar III since 1981, oversees the largest BOCES service in the state.

Her leadership and guidance has helped ensure that both new and existing subscribers of the service receive timely and accurate information and support. She has also overseen the evolution of the service from “pencil and paper” to utilizing the latest technology to provide real-time updates, custom webinars and the very best individualized training and assistance.

Levings has also provided consultant support to the State Education Department on state aid issues, and is known throughout the state for her ability to filter out significant school finance topics from complex legislative language, bills and proposals for school leaders.

She said she was surprised to be honored at NYSASBO’s conference in Saratoga.

“It means a lot to be recognized by my peers across the state. It’s an honor to bring the recognition to the service and Questar III to represent the organization,” Levings said.

Questar III will receive a $1,000 donation in her name for use to purchase equipment or offer a scholarship.
